There is a revolution all over Panama right now
Here with the latest is our undercover correspondent Pancho willworkforfood Gonzalez.
Central America, a place where you can be in 3 different countries in 1 day. The regional differences are slight, if at all noticeable. Times are changing though and it is Panama who has put one foot in front of the rest of Central America in its latest fight against wet clothes.
All over the country people have taken to putting clothes on clothes hangers and then hanging the hangers out to dry on front porches.
Its a bold move indeed. I spoke to some average overweight women and here is what they had to say.
You think I have 10 chickens running around for nothing? Look at my lawn, its flawless! You think I want to see rows of clothes flapping around, not me! Not to mention those stupid clothes pegs, after walking into the washing line for the 40th time, I just had enough.
Some things you just like! I like my sofa on my porch, my chickens on my lawn, and my clothes getting crispy dry on my hangers…..also on my porch.
I dont know who came up with the idea but its genius! Straight into the wardrobe, no messing about folding, no ironing, no unpegging, pure genius!
Scientist are currently in the labs experimenting as to whether it does indeed get your clothes drier and crispier faster, there is no doubt among Panamanians. Government officials are calling it a ‘ creative means to a drier end.’ I go deeper undercover to the remotest indigenous villages and rivers where people are still drying clothes on rocks. Why are they not following the movement, I ask. Their answer comes easily. Who cares! The people in their fancy houses have time for such shenanigans, Im just trying to put food on the table.
I put my ear to the street to find out who is behind this whole thing. It lead me to a seemingly crazy man sitting on top of a rusty tractor with a slingshot. Well it all started when my wife left me, and hell, the only time I ever saw my clothes, they were on a hanger. So when I finally had to wash my one good shirt, thats what I did, I put it on a hanger and left it on my porch to dry. Then one day a man in a fancy car pulls up and asks me why I have my shirt hung up like that, so I told him, I like my shirts crispy! Next thing you know, I sold the idea to a clothes hanger company. Ive been sitting here shooting stones at my chickens and laughing when they run, ever since.
So there you have it. Government analysts predict it wont be long before this thing goes universal, so when that way too fake friendly sales clerk asks you whether or not you would like to keep the hanger, think twice.
Signing out.
